The move allows South Sudan to join the 15members’ regional macroeconomic institute, which provides for a pool of financial resource mobilization, building of human and institutional capacities, lobby for funding and loans as well as to discuss debt management and debt relief strategies for member states.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. This institute was first established in 1994 under the name Eastern and Southern Africa Initiative in Debt and Reserves Management, and later renamed in 1997 as Macroeconomic and Fiscal Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa.
