The Directorate is a service department under the ministry of Finance and planning charged with the responsibility of ensuring proper accounting and financial system to ministries/ departments in accordance with the public and finance and accountability act 2011 and regulations.

Mandates

  1. Prepare a consolidate annual financial statements for government
  2. Revise and issue finance and accounting regulations and guidelines to MDAs
  3. Financial analysis and reporting
  4. Provide clarification and interpretation on finance and accounting practices
  5. Provide information on government expenditure to the relevant stakeholders
  6. Promote good financial management practices through PFM reform initiatives
  7. Operate a common public expenditure account for the release of public funds
  8. Proper maintenance of public accounts
  9. Develop accounting standards, reporting guidelines and undertake some research in identified areas of financial reporting
