GOVERNMENT SIGNS A CONTRACT WITH AFROPORTAL COMPANY TO STRENGTHEN DATA MANAGEMENT

The Ministry of Finance and Planning signed a contract agreement with Afroportal FZ LLC for the supply, installation, configuration, networking and commissioning of IFMISS Data and Training center at the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMISS) or Free-Balance is a software used by the ministry to streamline data storage and management of daily government financial filing system.

The project is part of the Government-Development Partners initiative on Public Financial Management Institutional Strengthening (PFMIS) Project, which is supported by the World Bank Group.

The contract signed today paves way for the Government of South Sudan through the Ministry of Finance and Planning and that of Public Service and Human Resource Development to improve data management system especially in areas of civil servants’ payroll and processing of public funds payment to spending agencies in a digitized manner.

The Undersecretary for Planning in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, Hon. Benjamin Ayali Koyongwa signed on behalf of the government, while the Executive Director for Afroportal company, Mr. Amanuel Estifanos signed the document as the official contractor for the project.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. McCarthy Phiri, the PFMIS Project Coordinator and Director General of the Ministry of Public Service, Abraham Makur Mangok as well as a number DGs and Directors from the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

The project is part of cooperation between the government and development partners through the Public Financial Management Institutional Strengthening (PFMIS) project.
