The Ministry of Finance and planning signed a Finance Agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at a tune of Five Million US Dollars for emergency financing support to South Sudanese.
The funds disbursed to IOM is part of the recently acquired 115 million US Dollars of the ‘Food Shock Window’, a grant offered to vulnerable economies through the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s Staff Monitored Program.
The targeted project of the IOM is known as “Emergency assistance to conflict affected population through cash-based intervention in South Sudan”, a program that provides cash, in-kind, assorted items, food and non-food items and other services to displaced communities.
The program targets victims of climatic condition and conflict affected communities such as refugees and returnees fleeing wide range of situations.
Last month the Ministry of Finance and Planning also disbursed 15 million USD to World Food Program from the same funds of the IMF’s Staff Monitored Program to support their school feeding program and strengthen resilience in the fight against hunger.
The Financing Agreement was signed by the First Undersecretary for Finance, Hon. Kuol Daniel Ayulo on behalf of the Ministry of Finance and Planning and IOM Head of Operation, Mr. Muhammad Asar signed on behalf of the International Organization for Migration.
