WORLD BANK/ IMF SPRING MEETING KICKS OFF IN WASHINGTON DC

The Spring meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) started today with participation of Ministers, Governors and heads of financial institutions from across the globe.

The meeting focuses on stabilizing economies, strengthening economic cooperation among member states and broadening financial assistance through loans, grants and funding acquired through vast prevailing windows.

South Sudan’s minister of Finance and Planning, Dier Tong Ngor is leading a delegation composed of members of his ministry, Bank of South Sudan, National Revenue Authority and accompanied by South Sudan’s Ambassador to United States, Philip Jada.

In his statement to the media, Minister Dier said he held meetings with World Bank Regional Director for South Sudan, Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea, Osman Dione where they discussed economic programs in South Sudan. Hon. Dier also met with IMF Executive Director and IMF country team separately and assessed the IMF funded projects and the level of its implementation.
