South Sudan endorses harmonization of regional trade in Arusha

The East African Community Secretariat meeting of the Sectoral Council on Trade, Industry, Finance and Investment convened a session of regional ministers and permanent secretaries in Arusha, Tanzania.

South Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Dr. Dier Tong Ngor led the country’s delegation, which consisted of the undersecretaries of Trade and Industry and that of Finance and Planning as well as senior technical officials from the concerned institutions.

The meeting resolved to strengthen trade among the regional countries, harmonize and digitalize the customs union, Revenue collections system and bureau of standards.

The move is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, encourage competition to assure quality and boost trade in services among the member-states of the regional bloc (EAC).
